This hits both political parties and illustrates how lobbyist and political campaign contributions corrupt our political system. Greed, power and corruption are alive and well.
This link to national military spending, by country, is an eye opener.

I went through that list yesterday. We spend more on the military than the next 17 countries on the list combined.
They could cut alot out of the military budget, but too many officers in charge of procurement are in bed with their suppliers. Many plan to work for these companies after they retire from the military, as way of pay back for cheating the tax payers.
The simple fix would be the prohibition of contractors employing those government employees involved in procurement for five years after government service.
The other side of the coin would be ex politicians being employed by lobbing firms.

"In a speech that talked about the need to cut federal spending — but not so deeply to eliminate things that aren’t wasteful — Obama said $78 billion in cuts in defense spending already proposed by Defense Secretary Robert Gates may not all of the belt-tightening the military is asked to make."
IMO military spending is not only being cut, it's being frozen....Go after Congress for an increase in Corporate taxes, after all they have enough money to give their CEO's huge bonus's every year.
The spread between the worker and management has never been so great and the leadership so poor. Many of the banking leaders should in my opinion be in prison not in the board room.
