Because billions are flooding the districts that have special interests as cash cows that provide all the campaign funds they need to run for election so they will take care of their golden geese and let the rest of us slide of the map.

Get private money out of elections. Not even the most dedicated and sincere politico can even hope to win or retain office with unlimited $ ready to smear, slander, and crush anyone that doesn't join in the "pay to play" system we have now .

It is not about money, it is about who it affects. If the unions win, guess who loses? Also keep in mind that the potential "loser" has far more influence in government than the winner.

    Bob Nelson.

Social Security budget around $ 600 billion.

National Security budget around $ 1 200 billion.

Do Americans really want to do their budget reductions in Social Security? Really?

Keep American troops in Germany, while terminating Granny's medicine?

Keep buying useless F-35 jets while letting even more babies die? (The US already has the worst infant mortality rate in the developed world -- do we really want it to get worse?.)

    Bob Nelson.

    Bernie Sanders is SO cool!

He uses a simple word: "investing". Money spent on the people is an investment in the future of the nation. That is the fundamental difference in outlook between the US and Europe.

Power is the answer the voting public has been split by a very effective corporate media campaign. Keep them in the dark an feed them BS. What is amazing is how many people buy this Tea Party trash.

Politicians do not want the budget balanced that would mean cutting the military, state department and taxing the rich, there benefactors.

Republicans demand that the budget be balanced on the backs of the middle class. In 2012 what will the voters demand?
